Chapter Thirteen
Maeve groaned as her back hit the wood of the door. She wasn’t sure which door it was, and right now she didn’t care. She had been innocently giving Will a tour of the cottage while also showing herself around as he fired questions at her about her unbinding and what it had done to him. Unfortunately, all she could say was that it was her fault and she had no clue what he was now. Because a ghost he was not, not with the way he pinned her against the oak and plundered her mouth like a good old pirate should.
“For someone who hasn’t done this in 300 years, you are certainly not rusty,” she moaned out as her hands gripped his shoulders. Maeve could no sooner resist Will than she could resist a cream-filled chocolate eclair. And they vanished faster than a rat up a drainpipe.
Will pulled his mouth away at her comment and grinned. “It’s not something I would forget, lass.” He kissed her again, this time slowly, taking her mouth as he pressed up against her. Removing her hands from his shirt, he placed them above her head and out of the way. “And I have wanted to do this since the moment I saw you.”
“Charmer,” she murmured against his lips.
After each word, he pressed a kiss against her lips, sucking her into his very own spell as if he were a warlock himself.
“You call to me, lass, like a moth to the flame,” he admitted, and didn’t his words just make her heart do a cartwheel. Yet a small side of her wanted to deny his words, wanted to answer that he only felt that way because she was the first woman he had kissed in over 300 years.
“What spell have you cast over me, lass?” he whispered against her ear as her eyes closed. Maeve expected more kisses, anticipated the feeling of his lips on her neck, yet nothing. She couldn’t even feel his breath. Her hands dropped from above her as the weight of his own holding them up vanished. Maeve’s eyes popped open. She was alone, with no sign of the pirate.
“Will?” she called out and moved away from the door. She looked over the wooden bannister to the floor below. “Will?”
Maeve sighed. Will’s newfound ability seemed to be unstable and was now also the world’s greatest cockblock. Not that she would have gone there. Kissing was all good, but to, you know...do it, she needed to get to know him a tad bit better. Test the waters as it were; make sure he didn’t pick his nose or chew his toenails.
Things that any potential couple should discuss.
But it was just a kiss. She was getting far too ahead of herself.
Maeve headed towards the door, finally getting to see some of the unique parts of the cottage now she wasn’t attached to a pirate. Just like the bottom floor of the cottage, the upstairs had oak doors and oak beams. She adored it and couldn’t stop herself from touching the caressing each wooden aspect.
